About
The site has been going for 8 years and the images span my 30 years of going into the mountains. The images on show are from trips to the Alps with my medium and large format cameras. I love to shoot in black and white in the mountains. It feels right for me. High season is the winter time in the alps when I go with my ski mountaineering skis and my Toyo field camera and tripod ski touring on the glaciers. I try to include people where possible in my images to convey the scale and grandeur of the alps through the human dimension. Yes this is a lot of weight. Also it needs a lot of careful preparation and a weather eye. It is all too easy when you are under the dark cloth to get very engrossed and time shoots by.
More recently I have returned to Nepal after nearly thirty years. The main reason for this trip was to shoot large format images of the big mountains. I also for the first time photographed with a full frame digital camera and these images are presented in a series of galleries. Much to my surprise it has been the portraits that have gained the most interest so I have put a small selection of these on the web. A book of portraits is in progress.
While in Nepal I got going on my blog. I caved in to all the requests to do a blog on my trip!! This has proven a great way to keep in touch. Showing my images in realtime, in a powerful this is as it happens, way. It was thrilling to be in remote parts of the Khumbu posting updates which hundreds of people were reading!!!
I continue to add to my blog and enjoy the feedback I get from it. alexmilne.blogspot.com
The website was developed by Nirijan Subedi of Xclusiveminds.com I met Nirijan in Kathmandu while on my recent visit to Nepal. I was very impressed with how capable he is and decided to have him re-vamp my website.
We agreed a deadline of the end of the year - 2 months. I am happy to say that not only did Xclusiveminds meet the deadline they have exceeded the design specification by a significant margin. It has been a pleasure working with them. Distance in this project has never been an issue. They communicate well and work very hard to deliver a robust product. I recommend them wholeheartedly to anyone on a budget who enjoys working with bright and innovative people.
So please take the time to stop and peruse the gallery. If you share my passion for photography in the mountains then please drop me an email. Alternatively please leave some comments in the TESTIMONIAL section bottom right on the home page.
